Land, ho!
Thar she blows, The Port of Baltimore, gem of the East Coast.
Let’s unload these books and get a warm meal amongst the landlubbers.
Yarr but this book, did you read it, mate?
Aye-aye. Pulled one out of the crate and cried me little eyes out. She’s a beaut.
(…Or some sort of other imaginary conversation happening down at the docks that let’s you know THAT THE KICKSTARTER COPIES ARE ALMOST HERE!)
That’s right. We have finally, finally, finally received word that a ship by the majestic name of The Zim Emerald has made its way through the hot mess that is international freight shipping and is set to dock on July 18th, with The Book of Belonging on board. From there, legend has it, the books will take about two weeks to pass through customs and travel via land to my very own driveway. At that point, Rachel will fly to my house and we will lovingly sign, pack and ship all 1500ish copies and document the whole jolly process.
Of course, there are so many asterisks on the above paragraph, (Hurricane Beryl being one of them) but long story long, if you ordered a special edition copy of The Book of Belonging, you will receive it in mid-to-late August. (Make sure we have your address!)
We’re so delighted and also so grateful for your patience during this maddening process!
BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE!
Barnes and Noble is running a sale this week and The Book of Belonging is included! If you are a B&N Member (their Rewards level of membership is free!), pre-orders are 25% off from July 10-17th! This includes the eBook and audiobook versions, too.
So, if you’ve been meaning to pre-order or pick up a few extra copies, you could snag one for just under $19. What a steal! Remember to:
If you’re not already a B&N member, sign up for free here
Use the promo code PREORDER25 at checkout
The sale runs until July 17th and includes lots of our favorite authors and series, so make sure to check it out.
Ok, back to obsessively tracking The Zim Emerald via this sketchy international freighter app we downloaded!
Cheers! Avast! Ahoy! Booty!

**I just need you to know that I’m aware that freighters are not pirate ships. Many of you have entrusted me with your money and your child’s spiritual wellbeing and I want to assure you that I am a (mostly) intelligent person who watched a lot of Muppet Treasure Island as a child.
***Rachel here, I also know that a freighter isn’t a touristy cruise ship. You’re welcome for all the Our Flag Means Death gifs. I, too, watched lots of Muppet Treasure Island as a child.
